The 50 mile Race For The Rainforest

Race for the Rainforest IV

The 4th 50 mile Race For The Rainforest started shortly after 5:00 a.m. on Earth Day, April 22nd, 2004, in beautiful Audubon Park in New Orleans, LA.

A late change of venue had ended any hope for a sizeable field, so the race started with the usual suspects, Race founder Steve Morrow and his mentor, Larry Schlueter. Larry ran the first 16 miles with Steve before resuming the duties of a doting grandfather. He returned several times on foot and bike to provide company and moral support.

Steve completed the 50 miles in 9 hours and 23 minutes. The 5th 50 mile Race for the Rainforest is set for November 6th, 2005, in conjunction with the 7th Annual World Run Day.

Note: In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, training and organizational duties were put on hold, effectively forcing a cancellation. This annual race will return at long last on November 8th, 2009, in conjunction with the 11th Annual World Run Day.
